The Anterior Metal Matrix with Wedges Kit is a comprehensive restorative system designed to achieve precise contouring and optimal proximal contacts in anterior composite restorations. The kit includes pre-formed stainless steel anterior matrices along with color-coded plastic wedges, allowing accurate adaptation to tooth anatomy and gingival margins.

The metal matrices provide excellent rigidity and shape control, ensuring smooth facial and lingual contours during restorations. The flexible wedges offer secure interproximal separation and tight cervical adaptation, helping to prevent overhangs and ensure proper emergence profiles. Organized in a compact storage box, this kit supports efficient workflow and easy chairside access.

1. Preparation & Isolation

Prepare the cavity according to standard operative dentistry principles (caries removal, wall finishing, margin design as required).

Achieve proper isolation using a rubber dam or suitable alternatives to ensure moisture control and clear visibility.

2. Selection of Matrix Band & Wedge

Select an appropriate matrix band height (short or tall) based on tooth anatomy and restoration depth.

Ensure the stainless steel matrix band is thin enough to pass through contacts or sulcus without deformation.

Choose a wedge size (extra-small to large) that fits the interproximal space and provides firm adaptation to tooth contours.

3. Matrix Band Placement

Gently insert the matrix band interproximally, sliding past contact points and positioning it toward the sulcus without bending or distorting the band.

Ensure the band extends slightly beyond the gingival margin or preparation floor when required to allow proper marginal adaptation.

4. Wedge Insertion

Insert the wedge carefully from the buccal or lingual side (or both, if needed) to adapt the matrix tightly against the cervical margin.

The wedge helps seal the gingival area, prevents overhangs, and provides slight tooth separation to compensate for matrix thickness.

5. Composite Placement & Contouring

With the matrix and wedge secured, place the composite material incrementally following standard restorative protocols.

Use the rigid matrix to contour facial and lingual surfaces and to establish proper anatomical form.

Light-cure according to composite manufacturer instructions.

6. Removal, Finishing & Polishing

Carefully remove the matrix band and wedge after complete curing.

Finish and polish the restoration to refine contours, embrasures, and margins.

Check interproximal contacts using dental floss and adjust if necessary.

Ensure smooth margins, correct occlusion, and proper papilla and embrasure form.
