1. Preparation

  • Clean and dry the tooth surface thoroughly.
  • Select the appropriate bur based on the clinical step: Finishing → Smoothing → Polishing.

2. Finishing

  • Use the finishing bur at the recommended low to medium speed.
  • Shape and contour the composite restoration to achieve the desired anatomical form.
  • Apply light, intermittent pressure for precise and controlled reduction.

3. Smoothing

  • Switch to the fine or super-fine grit bur for surface refinement.
  • Use gentle sweeping motions to eliminate minor scratches and surface irregularities.

4. Polishing

  • Use the polishing bur at low speed with minimal pressure.

5. Cleaning & Sterilization

  • Rinse the burs thoroughly under running water immediately after use.
